Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the KarmaMeter mobile application or website. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”) and DodoMeter LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”), the operator of the KarmaMeter App (“App”) and website at https://karmameterapp.com (“Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and legally able to enter into this agreement.

2. Description of Service

KarmaMeter is a consumer information app that provides sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) scores and insights about consumer products. Scores are generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) and are provided for informational purposes only.

The App does not provide financial, investment, legal, medical, or professional advice of any kind. All ESG and sustainability insights are AI-generated estimates and should not be relied upon as definitive assessments of any company, product, or organization.

3. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

KarmaMeter uses AI models, including Grok (xAI), to generate sustainability scores, analyses, and product summaries. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated scores and summaries may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information.
  • Scores are estimates based on available data and do not constitute official ratings or certifications.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any AI-generated content.
  • AI-generated content should not be the sole basis for any purchasing, investment, or business decision.
  • We are not liable for any decisions made in reliance on AI-generated content within the App.

4. User Accounts

To access certain features of the App, you must create an account using a valid email address and password. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information when creating your account.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
  • Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
  • Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service in an automated manner without our written permission.
  • Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, or other harmful content.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its related systems.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, the KarmaMeter name, and the underlying software — are the exclusive property of DodoMeter LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on your personal device solely for your personal, non-commercial use. No other rights are granted.

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates third-party services including Supabase (database and authentication), Expo (app delivery), Sentry (error reporting), and Grok/xAI (AI analysis). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

Links to third-party websites within the App are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for their content, privacy policies, or practices.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at https://karmameterapp.com/privacy-policy/. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by this reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DODO METER LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; (b) any defects or errors will be corrected; (c) the Service is free of viruses or other harmful components; or (d) the results obtained from the Service will be accurate or reliable.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL DODO METER LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim, or (b) $50 USD.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DodoMeter LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any rights of another.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at admin@karmameterapp.com.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Sections 6, 9, 10, 11, and 13 of these Terms shall survive termination.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via the App or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

15. App Store Terms

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that: (a) these Terms are between you and DodoMeter LLC only, not Apple Inc.; (b) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App; (c) in the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price (if any); and (d) Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims related to the App or your use of it.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and DodoMeter LLC regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
